The issue is Oxford is reportedly on near 20k a week so he would expect to be on par if not better given his status in the squad

Much as I realise how good he could be, he’s NINETEEN. is that money so bad for his age, even in football? Kane and Alli I think were only on 2-3 times that a couple of years ago.
Much as I wouldn’t want to lose him, he’s got to get his head down and work rather than worry about money. The money will come in the next year or so.

It's weird seeing '10k' and 'miffed' in the same sentence, because I'd love to earn 10 grand a week, but I realise we're talking about a footballer.
I don't know what the terms are of his current contact, but I imagine he has a few years to run, and SPIV Sullivan is up for the idea of selling him on for a huge profit.
If SPIV does piss him off to the point he requests a move, we're talking the mother of all mistakes and something Mini Stalin would have to face as soon as the season starts.

As a minimum he should be on the same as Oxford unless you want a regular starter to feel undervalued. 10k is a fortune, but not for a player who plays regularly in the first team and is often one of the best performers for his side.

If he wants to get on really serious wedge (not that 520k a year isn't serious wedge), he needs to cut out the game costing blunders that he makes every four or five games. Then they can quadruple his money (again), and I'm sure they will.

The world has gone mad but then again when the club offers 5/6 year contracts to players in their late 20s for 60-80k pw and 100k+ to players who can’t get in the team then I think Rice would be justifiably miffed to ‘only’ be offered 8k.
Knowing us we will piss him off, let him go and replace him with a player (who is not as good) on 60k pw.

The club should concentrate on shipping Reid and Kouyate out and letting Rice have some of their 60k pw wages.

He is only 19 and actually not yet regarded as a first team regular. He has played a lot more due to injuries.
I am quite sure that his agent has had it put in that if this season he plays so many games he will then be guaranteed a contract review which will put him more on the going rate.
I mean, for fuck sake, Pelle may go out and get one or two decent centre backs and Rice may slip back to sub / reserve and so if we are then paying him £60kpw then people would be going "That was stupid".
As I say, I am not a huge fan of our owners but sometimes they can't win.
